“Holmfirth really is such a beautiful town”

I nearly slammed on the brakes in shock. Not because facebook has conditioned me into believing the town is actually the seventh circle of hell. But because my teenage son took out his air pod to voluntarily engage in conversation with me. Granted we were driving into Huddersfield at the time, which although has its perks, is not particularly aesthetically pleasing. Although allegedly the safest city in West Yorkshire (I haven’t fact checked that).

And he’s right. I am grateful, so grateful to live here. Yes, ok, so I moved here twenty years ago from living next door to Monsters Mansion in Wakey, so it was always going to be an upgrade. Although they were ever so good at taking in parcels for me.

Our beautiful home has been ripped apart at the political seams as of late. So I was delighted to be asked to write this piece for Yorkshire Life this month.

Also, I just need to flex that one my former students Felicity is now Deputy Editor of Yorkshire Life (hence why she asked me to write this feature).
